While the terms don’t officially allow for gift cards, you will get reimbursed for physical gift card purchases, based on my experience. Unfortunately, those are only sold for a minimum of $150 online, so you would effectively get a 33.3% discount on those. Online eGift cards won’t work.
However, you can buy $50 gift cards in Saks Fifth Avenue stores and those will be reimbursed in full based on my experience.

Has always worked for me to buy a $50 physical gift card in-store here in Cleveland. I’ve saved up $500 in GCs over the last couple years, one of these days I’ll buy something nice with them.
My 2 online purchases hit my platinum account on Dec 3rd and the credits have not posted still. I did activate on Amex prior to purchase. My credits have always posted in a few days prior to this. Anyone else dealing with late credits?

Hi I bought 50$ gift card in Woodbury Commons and came up as 50$ charge at Saks off fifth and didn’t work

also tried buying at saks in american dream. no credit. yes was enrolled. just spoke to customer service–reiterated the t&c that state no credit issued for gift cards.
