Staples is waiving the $6.95 purchase fee on $200 Mastercard gift cards from 10/25-10/31. This is valid in-store only.

Officially per the weekly ad, there is a limit of 5 cards per customer per day.

Use your Chase Ink Cash Card or Ink Plus card and get 5 points per dollar spent. You can also check for AMEX Offers and Chase Offers for additional targeted savings.

If you buy a $200 Mastercard gift card you’ll earn 1,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points by charging it to an Ink Cash card. If you use your points at an average value of 2 cents each, then that’s like getting $20 back!

MetaBank issued Mastercard gift cards use the last 4 digits of the card as the PIN number. You can use them to buy money orders at various grocery stores and gas stations.

Or you can donate the gift card to charity and get a receipt for the full face value.

Or you can give away a gift card as a wedding or Bar Mitzvah gift.

Or you can always use it for everyday spending while earning 5% or 5 Chase Ultimate Rewards points per dollar everywhere!

I purchased several visa gift cards last week at Staples. When I went in today to activate the cards, two of them are giving me error messages. I even tried to check the balance and get error messages. Has anyone else had this happen and how did you fix it?

Sholom

The cards should have activated at time of purchase. There is no need to activate again, unless you want to use online.

blonde

in store or online?
Either way, they are activated at time of purchase.

Sam

Anybody else have trouble using these for money orders at grocery store/western union? They say there is no name so can’t accept.

Joe

Yes I had same issue but received no reply. Not sure why Dan keeps posting that they can be redeemed at grocery stores without specific chain names and leave us stuck with these cards…

Sue

If you don’t have a plan to liquidate them, then don’t buy them. Dan can only tell you what’s on sale and general info. because it’s very area specific and YMMV. You have to do your own homework and trial and error. There are many different variables here. What works at one Walmart/grocery store may not work at the same store a few blocks away. And it also depends on the employee at the CS counter.

Kathy you should go back to the store with your receipt and tell them it doesn’t work and get them exchanged. Happened to me many years ago and the supervisor of the staples helped me get the refund. It took a while to complete. They are activated at the time of purchase

Moshe

Can I deposit these at my local bank?

DanV

No.
