From now through 9/30 you can upgrade your existing Chase Hyatt card to the new Chase World of Hyatt card and get 2,000 points after your purchase.

There is no credit check for the upgrade.

You can get 50,000 points for the World of Hyatt card if you don’t have a Chase Hyatt card open and haven’t received the bonus in the past 24 months.

The old Chase Hyatt Card has a $75 annual fee, while the new card has a $95 annual fee. It is worth the upgrade?

• Both cards offer an annual anniversary night for category 1-4 Hyatt hotels without any spending required. However on the new World of Hyatt card if you spend $15,000 in a cardmembership year you can get an additional annual anniversary night for category 1-4 Hyatt hotels. The annual free night is worth well more than the full $95 annual fee, for example you can use it at the category 4 Andaz Costa Rica Resort, where rooms can cost up to $650/night!
• Both cards offer Discoverist status, which gives free premium internet, 10% bonus points at Hyatt hotels, free bottled water daily at Hyatt hotels, and 2PM late checkout.
• The new World of Hyatt card offers 5 elite qualifying nights every year, the old card didn’t offer any nights.
• The new World of Hyatt card offers the ability to earn an additional 2 nights towards elite status with every $5,000 spent. The old card doesn’t offer this benefit. You’ll need a total of 30 nights (combined between paid stays, award stays, the 5 nights that come with the credit card, and additional credit card spending nights) to hit Explorist status and 60 nights to hit top-tier Globalist status. If you hit Explorist you’ll also get another free category 1-4 night. Explorists earn 20% bonus points at Hyatt hotels and get free club lounge access with breakfast on 4 stays per year. After you reach Globalist you’ll only need 55 nights in subsequent years to re-qualify. If you hit Globalist you’ll also get an unrestricted category 1-7 free night valid at any Hyatt in the world. You’ll also earn 4 confirmed suite upgrade certificates, valid on both paid stays and point stays, that you can use to upgrade base rooms to suites for up to 7 nights each at the time of booking. Globalists get free lounge access and many Hyatt hotels will also buy Globalists free kosher breakfast where available. I’ve taken advantage of free kosher breakfast in Buenos Aires, Cleveland, Hawaii, Los Angeles, Melbourne, New York, Paris, Sydney, and more. Globalists also get access to a personal Hyatt concierge for reservations and personalized service. Resort fees are waived for Globalists on paid and award stays and parking fees are waived on award stays as well. Globalists also get 2 free annual United Club passes and can share their Globalist benefits on award stays with their friends and family. For every 10 additional elite qualifying nights after hitting Globalist you’ll get to choose between another 10,000 bonus points or a confirmed suite upgrade award.
• The new World of Hyatt card offers 4 points per dollar at Hyatt versus 3 on the old card.
• The new World of Hyatt card offers 2 points per dollar on dining (including restaurants, cafes and coffee shops, etc)offer details reference link, airplane tickets, local transit and commuting (including mass tranist, Uber, Lyft, taxis, tolls, etc), and fitness/gym memberships. The old card offered 2 points per dollar on restaurants and airplane tickets.

The new Hyatt card benefits make this a valuable card for spending and benefits. And spending on this card became significantly more valuable, unlike the Starwood cards where spending is going to become significantly less valuable.

However if you just keep this card in your sock drawer and never spend on it, then it probably won’t be worth the upgrade.
