Chase has launched the Marriott Bonvoy Bold Card. The card has no annual fee and offers 30K points for spending $2,000 in 3 months.

The benefits on the card are pretty weak as you can see in the chart below, but it has a decent signup bonus for a no annual fee card. It could also be a decent downgrade option from the $95/year Chase Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Consumer Card, though that would lose your valuable anniversary night if you do that.

You won’t get approved for the card if:

  1. You have a Chase consumer Marriott Bonvoy card.
  2. You got a signup bonus on a Chase consumer Marriott Bonvoy card in the past 24 months.

You won’t get the welcome bonus on this card if:

  1. You have or had an active Starwood AMEX/Marriott Bonvoy AMEX Consumer card in the past 30 days.
  2. You received a signup bonus for a Starwood Luxury/Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant AMEX or the Starwood Business/Marriott Bonvoy Business AMEX card in the past 24 months.
  3. You were approved for any Starwood AMEX/Marriott Bonvoy AMEX card in the past 90 days.

All Chase cards are subject to 5/24 restrictions, meaning that you are not likely to be approved if you have been approved for 5 or more consumer credit cards in the past 24 months. Note that the Chase system automatically counts cards like authorized user cards and store cards as cards that count towards 5/24, but if you explain to Chase that those cards are merely authorized user cards or store cards they can manually approve you for a new card.

You can check your credit report for free at the federally authorized annualcreditreport.com to check how many accounts are shows as being open in the past 24 months.

does pulling reports from annualcreditreport.com hurt my score and count as a hard pull

Lovehacks

Can I downgrade to this from the original SPG card (the purple one)?

RW

I had the AMEX SPG card (with a $95 annual fee) which now became the Marriot Bonvoy AMEX consumer card. That has been my primary card for 15 years. What are the benefits for that card now? Don’t want to cancel bc had the card for so long, can I downgrade it to a no annual fee card?

Yakov

What is the use of these points? Only hotels? How many nights can u get for 50,000 points?

D

What about SPG now Bonvoy Amex?

rebyid

Thank you for the chart. Very helpful in reminding me to constantly re-evaluate what cards I’m holding.

Dav

Dan is there a thread on DDF where I can sell my annual 35k certificate?

LM

Java
