Several banks, including AMEX, Chase, and Bank of America, have automatically issued extensions for people that recently opened credit cards.
Commenter BrooklynDan writes that he opened a couple of Capital One cards recently and call customer service to ask about an extension. They called him back 2 days later that they would extend his deadline until 12/31/20.
He opened the mega 200K offer in January, so that gave him an extra 8 months to meet the $5K spend and an extra 5 months to meet the $45K spend thresholds.

I was approved in January for the spark business cash, I called in and asked them when my spending threshold to receive the bonus is the rep told me that i have till Dec 31 2020 so that gave me almost a full year to complete the spending.
Also she claimed that its automatic you dont have to call in to get this extension.
That’s cool! I have to spend another $25k on my C1 spark miles.
