25% Off Award Sale:

Virgin Atlantic is offering 25% off awards for Virgin Atlantic flights.

  • Book by 9/17 at 7:59pm ET
  • Travel by 12/31.
  • Not valid on partner awards, such as Delta or El Al.

It’s always a good idea to search for awards as one-ways instead of a round-trip to find award availability more easily.

Virgin will resume flying to Tel Aviv on September 25th, and there are some nice bargains for Israel travel with this sale.

Virgin Atlantic points can be transferred from several currencies (see below) and never expire. Dates changes or cancellations cost $50 ($35 if originating in UK) or a forfeiture of taxes paid, whichever is lower.

Virgin does charge hefty fuel surcharges for Virgin flights, but there are workarounds to lower them, such as booking 2 one-ways instead of a round-trip as is pointed out below.

You may be able to get even lower rates by calling Virgin and asking for companion ticket pricing. Post a comment if you are successful with that.

Here are just a few sample deals using Virgin points, with off-peak saver award availability. Use the price calendar and these tips to find the cheapest dates.

Pricing to London seems to be ridiculously high even with the promotion. British currently has many off-peak flights, business class, available for 80k avoid points plus $375/each way between NYC and LHR. (United has some flights NYC-London for 80k points with no additional charge).

Hvaces42

Just booked JFK-LHR on Virgin with 68.5k AF in J

joel

why are some virgin flight sto israel blocked out in cash ? jfk – tlv on sep 25 is 14k however cash is only available business and premium ?

Eliteflyer

They don’t have award space in J from TLV-LHR but a Virgin agent was able to manually book a mixed class award TLV-LHR (premium); LHR-MIA (J) for 48,700 VX+ $390.25, saving substantially on the surcharges for ex LHR which would have been about $819 just for LHR-MIA.

WannaFly

What dates are these for?
What about the other way around?

Eliteflyer

I booked for Nov. 12 one-way only.

Mort

Are flights to/from jfk and Israel bookable yet (for flights after September 25th)? I am searching for award flights on their site for dates in October and nothing is showing up?

Do I need to wait some time before the flights go live for sale?

Eliteflyer

Try searching by segment. If you see both segments, you may be able to get them to book it by phone.
