If you fly the following amounts on USAirways between 10/01/09-12/25/09 you will get fast-tracked to elite status valid through 02/28/11.
Registration is not required.
It’s a cute twist on the double elite miles promo offered by AA, Continental, and United, but it seems to have been made without giving any thought to how it might upset current USAirways elite members who have been flying the whole year to attain elite status and don’t gain anything with the promo.
-Fly 7,500 miles or 10 segments and earn Silver Preferred status
-Fly 15,000 miles or 20 segments and earn Gold Preferred status
-Fly 22,500 miles or 30 segments and earn Platinum Preferred status
-Fly 30,000 miles or 40 segments and earn Chairman’s Preferred status

Insane! really overinflates the elite rank tohough.
I wouldnt be too concerned about overinflating the elite ranks.
1. All these promotions for faster elite accrual are a direct result of the slump in buisness travel this year.
2. Anyone who gets the elite status only because of this won’t pose a regular treat to “hard working” elite members (e.g free upgrade availability) because even if they are elite, it doesnt mean they will be flying with enough regulaity to dillute the system for true frequent fliers.
true, valid point.
It seems that USAir has a better program then AA. Dan what can you comment on proffered elite statuses, thanks.
