Google continues to make Google Flights more useful, adding included large carry-on bags and checked bags front and center when searching for flights:
You can also filter for fares that include a free carry-on or checked bag:
It would be nice if you could personalize it further, such as saving which cards or status you have to your profile, so the search engine can tell you which fares would provide free bags.
But what I’ve long asked for, a filter to include or exclude basic economy, is conspicuously missing.
I’m also still waiting for Google Flights to get smart enough so that when I search for round-trip flights from NYC to Tel Aviv, that even if the outbound flight is from JFK, it should still show return flights to Newark.
Which features do you want to see in Google Flights?

I would love to have a search engine that allows you to piece together a trip (choosing you own connections) I always need to have multiple tabs open searching each leg of my journey.
Yes, especially now with only ElAl flying directly to Israel. What’s the best place to stop in Europe to get from NY to TLV?
Everyone says Athens. I personally found reasonable prices via London. Key point if you’re not comfortable booking separate flights because your nervous about missing your connection, it might be a good idea to use Cyprus, as replacing that last leg is relatively easy and cheap.
Zurich is definitely the easiest. Other options are Heathrow, CDG, Frankfurt and Munich, or Rome.
Try multi city instead of RT
using the multi-city option wouldn’t help you?
To filter by LieFlat!
Yup, that’s another one that should be there.
Would love that. It is such a pain to figure out.
Sounds like a lot of work…guesstimating here but you would need to build a database of planes and their configurations across airlines, then see how / if it would be possible to expose the lie flat enhancement and link all that up to the plane tail id…I can’t really see the gain outperforming the cost (I’d assume 1 month for 3 engineers and 1-2 biz people; 1 to collect the data, 1 to add this into the existing UI and one to do quality evaluations).
Um, it’s all there already. Click through any business class fare on GF and it says if it’s like flat or not.
try adding legroom + chrome extension.
refresh chrome
then when u select business/first, it will show automatically
But can it filter to only display lie-flat?
I have also messaged them for that feature
I tried the multi-city feature to resolve for your last point, but it didn’t work
To search for NYC round trip to a nearby airport is indeed a pain in the neck. The only way to do it is with multi city search and manually search for JFK/EWR
What happens when you enter NYC TLV RT it should give you that info no?
Once you choose the outbound flight from one airport, it’ll only give you a return flight to that specific airport.
They specifically don’t show other airports in the same city for the return even if you build the query as a multi city. I guess they want to save some unassuming travelers from grief but they can just note that it’s separate airports.
I want to be able to filter by class, and I want it to be able not to disfavor return flights through a different airline. I also want to be able to put in multiple airports to consider on either end.
Why not a filter that allows for searched based on milage program? Would love a search with all the mile availability including delta, avios, etc with availabilities.
There’s an extension that you can add into your chrome browser which is called ‘points path’ that does that for you.
Basically Point.me

Price notification feature has not been working for me recently. Am I doing something wrong?
Aircraft Type
@ mileage program points path is an extension to Google flights and does just that but I believe that they are starting to charge for it. I have it for some time and it’s pretty reliable but as always double check before transferring points

@dan I have seen that already and I believe that it was maybe when I filtered nonstop and elal that it did that for me. It would come up in red ‘different airport’
Feel free to try my example.
i did and check this out

Wow. When did you first see that?
I searched when I made this post and that did not come up.
Been asking for that forever!
so basically i just realized that it only comes up when you go under the newly added category “cheapest” that google flights recently added
Where is this “newly added category “cheapest”” you speak of?
Cheapest also changes the advertised price from the direct airline to the cheapest 3rd party site (usually mistake or not where I actually book from), so I don’t like that tab for that reason.
Wow!! Just yesterday I searched for a flight NYC to MIA it definitely didn’t show, I had to check it on Priceline, now it’s there!!! Think it deserves a post…
Have a great day

Dan if it says there’s no checked or carry on bags wouldn’t that mean its a basic economy ticket? Which airline doesn’t allow a carry on a regular economy ticket?
Why did they take away the Date grid??
You can get RT EWR-TLV-JFK by using multi-city option. “NYC-TLV TLV-NYC”.
