Update: Alive again!
Update: DEAD!
Groupon has Shutterfly photo books on sale from $5 here.
The prices for the hardcover photo books if you buy a Groupon voucher for Shutterfly are as follows:
- 8×8: $5 (plus $7.99 shipping=$12.99)
- 8×11: $13.99 (plus $8.99 shipping=$22.98)
- 10×10: $19.99 (plus $8.99 shipping=$28.98)
- 12×12: $26.99 (plus $11.99 shipping=$38.98)
- 11×14: $33.99 (plus $11.99 shipping=$45.98)
While officially these are for 20 page photo books, you can stack your Groupon voucher with this promotion to get unlimited extra pages through 6/1.
If you buy the photo books directly from Shutterfly with 40% off you would pay:
- 8×8: $11.99 (plus $7.99 shipping=$19.98)
- 8×11: $23.99 (plus $8.99 shipping=$32.98)
- 10×10: $29.99 (plus $8.99 shipping=$38.98)
- 12×12: $41.99 (plus $11.99 shipping=$52.99)
- 11×14: $44.99 (plus $11.99 shipping=$55.99)
There are some other advantages to Groupon:
- Groupon doesn’t charge tax, though you may be charged tax on the shipping fee, which is charged by Shutterfly.
- If you are a Chase cardholder you can get 10% back on Groupon Bucks.
- You can also check for a targeted Chase Offer for 5% back at Groupon, up to $6 back, through 6/15.
But there are advantages to Shutterfly direct as well:
- You’re not locked into making the book as you don’t pay until checkout.
- The Groupon voucher’s bonus value expires on 9/1/22.
- You can make multiple books or add other items to get to the $79 free shipping threshold.
But if you just want to make one or two 8×11 hardcover photo books, you’ll save $10+tax and get 10% back by going the Groupon route. Plus you can check for Chase Offers for another 5% off. That’s a pretty sweet deal!
The 8×11 is my go-to book, we make one for every trip we go on and it’s always stunningly awesome! I’d highly recommend getting the 8×11 size over the 8×8 size.
You’ll want to read this post for more information on the unlimited free pages.
Will you make your photo book with Shutterfly direct or with a Groupon voucher for Shutterfly?

Do I do anything different to get the 8×11 layflat hardcover? Or they’ll just calculate the price for that?
Can i buy it multiple times to get multiple photo books?
Does the Unlimited free pages expire?

Erm, look at the comment date.
Lol I realized
Does the Groupon work for the 11×8 photo book or just the 8×11?
I have 10 percent back Groupon offer on my freedom and 10 percent on my ink
Anyone have the TMobile free 8×11 offer saved in the app and doesn’t plan on using it?
I had to order 13 photo books 8×11 and this offer saved me over $300!
Got them for only $20 a book
Dan, thank you for all you do!
Awesome!
Dead again 🙁
Do these codes work for layflat hardcover?
@Dan any experience on the matter?
they should work. but it would come out more expensive….the 40% off will automatically be calculated….in my experience….good luck!
If I were to buy the Groupon vouchers, Can I stack the free shipping on that, as well? I would buy the 8*11 and 11*14, which would come out to more than 49$. DOes the free shipping work on that? or should I just do it through shutterfly?
The shipping doesn’t stack but it still may be cheaper
Dan the 8×11 is better than the 10×10?
Do I need to make the book on purchase from Shutterfly or do I have a specific amount of time to make it with unlimited pages
If you want to stack this voucher with the unlimited pages, you would have to do so while that promotion is running, which is currently through 1/24.
If I have bought the groupon in the past, can I purchase to use again and still stack with other discounts?
why is my 8*11 book 29.99 before shipping on shutterfly? instead of 23.99?
Groupon Bucks take up to 2 weeks to post and expire in 30 Days. Pretty bad policy
Will there be better promotions for Mothers day, or is this the best deal?
This is the best deal.
Thanks! How can this deal be used for more than one book?
With Groupon can I purchase, apply unlimited page promo and make later or do I need to make the book by this evening?
If you want the unlimited free pages you need to make it when there is an active unlimited free page promo.
How often do free extra pages promo come about?
ITS BEEN MONTHS SINCE THEY HAD IT LAST BUYT MAYBE THEY ARE STARTING AGAIN
I actually have a chase offer for Shutterfly 10 percent off up to 7 dollars. LoL.
What am I doing wrong? Bought the Groupon and it brings the price down to $5. Added 600+ prints. Shipping is now $80. I thought it was $8 per the post about Groupon 8×8 photo books. Help
Where did I say anything about the prints in this post?
Apologies that I irritated you
No irritation, genuinely confused about why you had that impression from this post or if I wrote something that implied that.
I obviously wasn’t smart enough and was confused by your multiple Shutterfly posts yesterday. A simple ‘this does not apply to prints’ would have sufficed. While I appreciate the savings, communal work, etc. I find the snark of answering a sincere question with a rhetorical one disappointing. You don’t owe anyone a dime, and certainly not me, but a little thought and grace in your reply would be appropriate.
I think you misread what Dan wrote. He explained his original post.
I think people can choose to read words how they’d like to on the web. And to read snark or confusion is the readers option.
Happens all the time when we say read the post? It can be snark or genuinely asking if someone had read the post or not.
People can take things how they choose, doesn’t mean it had any ill intent behind it.
But when you work online and post many replies often brevity is the best option instead of a thought out kind hearted reply, in order to reply to more people. So to have to think how many ways someone can read something just isn’t practical timewise when trying to reply to as many people as possible.
I mean, I’d love to get on the phone, ask a reader how their day is going and walk them through every deal in an ideal world, and thank them for following of course, but time constraint is real. Maybe it’s time for a DD call center.
Just some thoughts on the matter 🙂
Respectfully disagree. Happy to take it offline.
I work retail 6 days a week and much if my job involves customer satisfaction (which includes how they interpret things.) Granted, I get to interact face to face and that is a game changer. I can genuinely see both sides of this coin.
Groupon says limit 1 per person. How do I order multiple books in same size using the groupon?
